Volunteering is the backbone of UDB. We don't want to be an organisation with a huge staff team that do everything. We want to see local people involved in serving their communities.

Volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as those who are served by them. Today the majority of our volunteers come from the local community but we welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. For instance we have students who travel across the city to give their time, energy and expertise and we also run a Junior Volunteer Programme for young people who want to give something back to their community. This involves training, celebration evenings and review points.
