Give A Year

In 2003 UDB was effectively a gap year project. Sam Miller was the only employee and the rest of the team were Christian Gap Year students who wanted to set a year of their life aside to serve a disadvantaged community through prayer walking and practical youthwork.

Ever since we have welcomed people to do the same and this has become the UDB Trainee programme. During this time we have partnered with organisations such as Oasis and the Centre for Youth Ministry as well as inviting people to connect with us directly. We are passionate about community transformation; we are passionate about seeing people's lives radically and positively altered. If you are interested in coming and spending a year with us our desire would be to share these passions with you along with some of our ideas around how to serve this process of change. Whether you stay with UDB at the end of the year or move into something else we hope you will take a strong desire for transformation with you.

Over the past couple of years we have worked with some other churches and organisations across Birmingham to develop ONE Birmingham. ONE is a Christian training programme that provides a strong foundation of teaching, prayer and worship and supports various churches and organisations in running high quality year out programmes. We encourage UDB Trainees to be part of this fantastic resource. If you are interested in ONE for your church, your organisation or yourself please check out theĀ ONE Birmingham website.
