Children and young people CAN achieve amazing things. Families CAN be incredible places to nurture this potential. Communities CAN positively shape the development of future generations. All of these things CAN happen. So often they don't. UDB wants to play a part in changing this.

UDB does not have all the answers but is part of the solution."
UDB is based in Perry Common, in the Kingstanding ward of Erdington in North East Birmingham. Government statistics measure Kingstanding as amongst the most deprived neighbourhoods in the country. Historically, a large proportion of working men were employed in manufacturing jobs. 30,000 manufacturing jobs disappeared across Birmingham between 1998 and 2007 alone. Today unemployment in Kingstanding hovers around 20% which rises to nearly 24% amongst men. The area is enduring its third generation of unemployment and also has amongst the highest teenage pregnancy and domestic violence rates across Europe. Over half of adults have no qualifications.

UDB does not have all the answers but is part of the solution. Working in partnership with others, we want to help bring about change and see children and young people achieve all that lies within their potential
